MY NAME IS...

Patricia

I live in Switzerland — which is, by most accounts, not the most obvious place to run a fashion blog. The Swiss relationship with clothing tends toward the precise, the understated, the quietly expensive. None of that is wrong. But my wardrobe makes no geographical sense whatsoever, and I have made peace with that.

What you'll find here is a mix that follows no rulebook: Birkenstocks and Balenciaga energy, Japanese minimalism next to Harajuku chaos, 90s grunge beside 50s glamour, brands that cost a fortune beside things found in a thrift shop. The common thread — if there is one — is that everything here has a point of view. A reason to exist. Something interesting to say.

What Half-Mad is About

I am fascinated by the things in fashion that shouldn't work but do. The sandal designed for foot rehabilitation that became a runway icon. The workwear brand adopted by skaters. The decade everyone agreed to forget that keeps coming back. There is something genuinely interesting happening whenever a piece of clothing crosses from one world into another and survives the journey.

I'm equally interested in why we wear what we wear — what clothing says about identity, culture, geography, rebellion, conformity, comfort, desire. Fashion as a lens for everything else. It sounds serious when I write it like that, but I promise the blog is not serious. It is enthusiastic, occasionally opinionated, and completely unapologetic about what it loves.

The name Half-Mad came from the feeling that loving fashion this much — really caring about it, thinking about it, writing about it — requires a certain willingness to be thought of as slightly unhinged by people who don't understand it. I've made my peace with that too.

What I believe about style

01

Comfort and style are not opposites. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you uncomfortable shoes.

02

The most interesting looks are usually the ones that contain at least one thing that shouldn't be there.

03

Ugly-cool is the most sophisticated category in fashion. It requires genuine confidence to pull off.

04

Price is not a reliable indicator of style. Some of the most interesting wardrobes cost almost nothing.

05

Playing it safe is always a choice. Just make sure it's a conscious one.
